How we work

Three kinds of engagements. One operating principle.

We don't sell hours and we don't sell shelfware. Every engagement is structured around a real outcome, with skin in the game on both sides. Below is how each kind works — scope, timeline, what we bring, what you bring, and the first step.

01 — Quick Wins

Tools that should already exist.

Websites, integrations, automations. Clear problem, clear fix. Scoped fixed-bid, shipped fast.

Scope

A specific, well-defined problem with a known fix.

Timeline

Usually 1–4 weeks, start to finish.

Investment

Fixed-bid. Agreed up front.

You bring

The problem in plain language and access to the people who feel it.

We bring

Discovery, design, build, and handoff. We stay reachable after.

First step

A short call to scope the fix.

02 — Shared Builds

A real partnership.

You bring a problem worth solving. We bring the product chops. We co-invest and agree up front on what's fair.

Scope

A product, not a one-off — built with you, used by you first, scalable to others later.

Timeline

Typically 3–12 months to a working v1, then continued together.

Investment

Co-invested. You put in capital and domain knowledge; we put in product, engineering, and operating skill. Terms agreed in writing before either of us starts.

You bring

Skin in the game, your industry expertise, early-user access, and patience for real product work.

We bring

Full product lifecycle — discovery, design, engineering, infrastructure, and ongoing build.

First step

A working session to validate the opportunity together.

03 — Venture Products

We build it. We run it.

Opportunities big enough that GVP funds the build ourselves. Partners who help shape the product benefit first.

Scope

GVP-funded products in industries where we see a durable gap. Open to early partners who help us shape the work.

Timeline

On our own roadmap — but early partners get influence over what ships.

Investment

Funded by GVP. Early partners contribute domain expertise and use the product first; commercial terms favor them.

You bring

Lived expertise in the industry and willingness to use the product as it takes shape.

We bring

All of it — capital, product, engineering, ongoing operations.

First step

If one of our venture products fits your industry, we'll talk about early-partner access.

The process, in five steps

How a conversation becomes a partnership.

No hourly invoices. No 90-page scope docs. Both sides have skin in the outcome.

FAQ

Questions we hear before the first call.

Is GVP one person or a team?
Founder-led, with a trusted network of partners. Jeff leads every engagement; for builds that need additional hands, we pull from a small bench of vetted engineers, designers, and domain specialists we've worked with before.
Who owns the code when we co-build?
Spelled out in writing before either of us starts. For Quick Wins, you own the deliverables outright. For Shared Builds, ownership and licensing terms are negotiated based on what each side puts in. We don't surprise partners with terms.
What industries do you work in?
We've shipped software for state government, consumer mobile, healthcare, eye-care SaaS, and most recently for property/business improvement districts. We're industry-agnostic but partner-specific — the question we ask first is whether we can do meaningful work together.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. Quick Wins are fixed-bid. Shared Builds are co-invested with terms agreed in writing. Venture Products are GVP-funded. We never bill for hours — we deliver outcomes.
What if I want to walk away in month six?
We build that into the agreement up front. You're never locked in by code you can't take with you, and exit terms are written down before kickoff.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes — happy to. We typically suggest a mutual NDA before the first deep working session.
Where are you based?
California, USA. We work with partners across North America and remotely with most other timezones.
How do I know if my problem is the right fit?
Send a paragraph. If it's not a fit, we'll tell you and try to point you somewhere that is. We'd rather pass on the wrong work than start it.
